This Week in Gators Athletics | September 21st

AUBURN, Wash. (GRC) — Fall quarter is underway at Green River College and the sports keep rolling on.

On Wednesday, September 23rd Women's Soccer, in their first of two road contests this week, heads out to the coast to battle with Grays Harbor College. The game will take place at noon at Stewart Field. The Chokers currently sit in 9th place in the west. Late in the evening, volleyball hosts Centralia in a face off of the two top teams in the region. Both the Gators and Trailblazers are 2-0 so far. First serve is set for 6:30 p.m. in The Swamp. Centralia received votes, just outside the top 10, in the latest NWAC Volleyball Coaches Poll. GRC is looking for their 11th win of the season. They have already surpassed last seasons win total. 

On Friday, September 25th Gators Volleyball is back on the road. This time in Olympia. The black and green take on the Clippers at 7:00 p.m. in the Olympia Orthopedics Associates Gymnasium on the South Puget Sound Community College Olympia Campus. SPS sits in 5th place in the west through two games. They are 0-2 in region play and 6-10 on the year. 

Saturday, Cross Country and Soccer are in action. Cross Country heads north to the Bill Roe Classic Hosted by Western Washington University. This will be the 52nd Annual Bill Roe Cross Country Classic. Green River looks to build on last weekend's success at PLU. The men's 8k race starts at 10:00 a.m. and the women's 6k race begins at 11:00 a.m. The meet takes place at Hovander Homestead Park in Ferndale, about 20 minutes north of the WWU main campus. Soccer takes on SPSCC at noon at the Regional Athletic Complex in Lacey. The Clippers currently stand in 7th place in the west with a 1-2-3 region record and a 3-2-2 overall record, they received votes in the latest NWAC Soccer Coaches Poll on September 8th. The Gators look to put themselves back in the playoff picture, currently sitting just outside the top three in the west.
