2026-2027: This season will be Coach Drake's ninth season as the head coach of the Gators men's basketball program.
Drake took the helm of the men's program in 2017-2018. He previously served as an assistant coach for the program under Tim Malroy from 2008-2012.
Born and raised in Jackson, Mississippi, Coach Drake attend The University of Southern Mississippi where we was a part of the men's basketball team while earning a bachelors degree in Coaching & Sports Administration. Prior to this Drake attended Southwest Missippi Community College and graduated from Murrah High school.
Drake graduated from Concordia University Irvine in 2016 with a Master's Degree in Sport and Fitness Administration/Managment.
During Drake's time as head coach he as produced 12 all-west region players, three west region MVPs, one west region defensive player of the year, one west region freshman of the year and one NWAC player of the year.
Drake has won west region coach of year honors twice and NWAC Coach of the year honors once.
During the 2023-2024 season Coach Drake led the Gators to their first ever NWAC Championship.
Coach Drake's program has produced three NCAA Division I commitments as well as multitudes of DII, DIII, NAIA and Canadian College players.
Godfrey and his wife Michelle reside in Buckely, Washington with their children Alayah, Dakari and Malia.
