LACEY, Wash. — Yet another shutout from
Olivia Blavka and the defense secured the second road win for soccer this week.
Natalya Huffaker began the scoring for the Gators from just inside the box in the 17th minute. Her left foot helped the ball find the back of the net as it snuck past the diving Clippers keeper. This was Huffaker's fourth goal of the season. The assist came from
Hadiah Reid, her first on the year. GRC would take the 1-0 advantage into halftime.
The second half began with a bang as
Luci Ramey sprinted down the left sideline and used her left foot from the edge of the box to score. The outstretched arm of the SPS goalie nearly missed the ball, which ducked in right below the crossbar. The goal was Ramey's team leading 10th and was Huffaker's fourth assist on the season. The black and green would hang on to the 2-0 lead through the rest of the match, as they grabbed their sixth overall victory this year. The Gators have not lost in their last four games.
Ramey is sixth in the NWAC in total goals. Blavka completed her fifth shutout of her collegiate career.
GRC is 4-2-2 in the West so far, currently sitting in fourth place.
Next up for the Gators is a trip to TCC on Wednesday, September 30th. Kickoff is set for 2:00 p.m.
Green River tied with the Titans last time out. Tacoma is currently third in the West and is ranked sixth in the latest NWAC poll.
